At the Market

Queen Victoria Market is just a short walk from our house.  It opened in 1878 and is the shopping mecca for Melburnians.  It has anything and everything that one would need.  It covers more than seven hectares and has over 1000 traders that sell their goods.  It's much like Granville Island in Vancouver or Pike Place Market in Seattle but on a grander scale.  On Sundays, the whole area takes on a carnival atmosphere.

Old Architecture

These are just some of the older architectural highlights in and around where we live.

Laneways

Melbourne has over 180 Laneways within the city.  These Laneways are quite unique with many cafe's, botiques, and hidden bars tucked away within these tiny miniscule streets.  I found a blogsite that includes a photo essay project that will include all the Laneways in Melbourne-The goal being to photograph a Laneway a week which will take 3.5 years to complete.  Can be found under website www.urbancreature.com

Urban Art

Melbourne is packed with this type of graffiti called 'Urban Art'.  It's been fun walking around the city and viewing this accepted art form.

The cabin retreat

From the landing to the master bedroom looking down.
Beep!!!  Beep!!!

Glenn hanging out under the suspended master bed.
Ben found some bath oil and dumped the whole bottle in the tub.
Needless to say, his skin was silky smooth!
Packing up the van to head back was a difficult thing to do.  We all wished we could have stayed longer.  We had a very enjoyable and memorable time here at Kennett River.  Thanks Paddy, Dave, Pearl, and Clancy for the use of your cabin making this weekend a very special retreat for us!
